About the Orchestras

The Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestras are composed of about seventy talented young musicians from Chicago's south and southwest suburbs who present an annual subscription series as well as a number of other performances in the area. Over 30 southern suburbs are represented in our two performing groups, and, though each carries its own character, they all unite under the common goal of making music together.

In addition to the orchestral concerts and ensemble performances, SYSO members benefit from coaching and sectionals with professional musicians and the experience of learning and performing orchestral music composed by both old masters and new innovators. Weekly rehearsals on Saturdays from September through May offer the opportunity for student musicians to form close friendships as well as to grow musically. SYSO is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra League. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

Tuition
Tuition for SYSO is $300 per year. Tuition includes 2 free adult tickets to each concert.
